Hearing the Message
Kuy
people are oral people. This just means that they receive, process and
pass on information through oral means rather than written means in
most cases. This is significant for the proclamation of the gospel
among them. While it is important for the Bible, the written Word of
God, to be available to them, we also need to work hard to find ways
for them to "hear" the message.
In
Sept you prayed for our friends in Cambodia as they carried out
recordings in the Kuy language of Luke, the Story Bible and a number of
Christian songs. They report that all these sound recordings have been
edited now and mixed with some music and a few Kuy songs. They have mp3
speaker units available for selective distribution/lending. They are
planning to make the oral Story Bible into a DVD for people to play on
their small DVD players which are in most households. They will include
slides of Bible illustrations.
Pray for
- the strategic distribution of the mp3 players,
- the production of the DVD, and
- open ears and hearts.
