Storying
Part II
Tom's trip to Preah Vihear
province the end of last month went as planned,
with the exception that Meng was unable to
accompany them since he was called to an urgent
church meeting. This has led to an opportunity
for a second trip. So, on Sat. 18 February Tom
will be heading up again to go out to the same
village, Thmea, with Meng.
Thank you for your prayers
regarding the trip last month. Each motorbike
had problems along the way, but only in places
where they could easily get repairs. Jet's bike
needed repairs to begin with which delayed the
trip slightly. Jeff's bike was left at a shop on
the way up, but could be ridden on the way
back. Tom's pooped out not too far from home on
the way back. Tom had to get a ride in a van and
tie the bike on the back. The team was, however,
able to make it to the planned village and were
encouraged by the people's receptivity. A group
of the men in the village arranged an
evening gathering and invited them to "share a
story." They even provided refreshments
(fermented palm toddy and roast cow hide) and a
woven mat to sit on.
Praise God for the first trip
and pray for Tom's next trip, with Meng, 18-22
February:
-
that Meng would be an
excellent story teller.
-
for safety and good health
(Tom is going up by taxi to the provincial
capital and they will take motorbikes from
there.)
-
for continued openness to
the gospel.
-
that some would give their
lives to Jesus and that a house church could
be begun in Thmea this year.
