Chronological
Bible Storying
One strategic method
we wish to use to communicate the Bible message to the
Kuy people is that of Chronological Bible Storying.
Stories are a wonderful way to communicate truth. They
are especially helpful in an oral culture where people
are used to learning through listening and remembering
stories, songs and teachings in the form of proverbs.
This method involves choosing and preparing a series
of stories from the Bible in the people's language to
communicate God's plan. Questions are asked to clarify
content, bring out lessons and stimulate application.
The stories can be repeated by the learners and
memorized to tell to others.
Next week Tom
and a Khmer friend, Jet, will attend a conference on
this topic here in Phnom Penh. Pray that God will
give Jet a vision for and excitement about using oral
methods to communicate the gospel and disciple
believers in his own church and among the Kuy people.
Also pray for us to have wisdom
in choosing and preparing a series of Bible stories
for the Kuy people.
