Workers for the
Harvest
Having identified an area in
the Province of Preah Vihear where there are many
Kuy and no churches at all, among the Khmer or the
Kuy people, we are now petitioning the Lord of the
harvest (Matthew 9:37-38) to raise up church
planters who could go to that area. It will take
some very hearty people who can thrive in a remote
undeveloped area. You may remember that we asked for
prayer for a church in Fiji which might be able to
send some church planters. Please continue to pray
for this possibility or others to develop. Also,
pray for a friend who is right now considering
whether to take an assignment among the Kuy or with
another people group.
Praise Reports
In January we asked for
prayer for wisdom in choosing and preparing a series
of Bible stories for the Kuy people. We are excited
to report that a good friend and fellow church
planter here in Cambodia is in the process of
developing just such a series of stories using very
simple Khmer. He is not using the high language of
Khmer which is typically used for addressing the
king or God, because it is difficult for the average
Cambodian. This is great for our purposes since Kuy
has no high language. We have begun trying the Khmer
versions with Kuy friends. We hope that Kuy people
who have learned the story in Khmer will begin to
share it with others in Kuy.
Thank you for
praying for Tom's survey trip last month. Though Tom
came home sore after five days and 1000 km on a
motorbike, their travel was safe. They also were
able to locate all the Kuy villages that Tom hoped
to visit, to confirm that they really are Kuy. Some
villages turned out to be mostly Khmer people. In
addition, they had a good time sharing a few Bible
stories in very simple Khmer language with Kuy
friends in the village of Rumchek.
