KUY LINGUISTIC SURVEY

Who would have imagined that Kuy people living so close to each other would speak differently?
Results from a quick linguistic survey done a year ago showed at least two, maybe more dialects of Kuy language in Cambodia, none really matching the Kuy dialects known in Thailand. It is as yet unclear whether the Kuy speakers of these dialects can understand each other. Right now a second survey is taking place to try to find out how much these two groups can understand each other and to try to learn more about the distribution of various dialects. This is a great opportunity for Tom to help gather information he would not have the expertise to gather on his own and for him to glean more non-linguistic information about the culture and location of the Kuy in the process.

Please pray for Linda, Noel, Tom, their translators and driver
