Kuy Village of Tumpieng Tum
Last November 35
Cambodian believers from Crossroads Church along with missionary, David
Ooi, made a four day trip to the village of Tumpieng Tum In Preah
Vihear Province. They took time to make friends with the youth and
share Christ with as many as would listen. The Lord enabled them to
meet several persons of peace. Almost 20 people professed faith in
Christ. In addition, they saw God move in another special way. Here is
the story in David's words:
An old couple was seen sitting at a front porch. The wife told us that
her husband was oppressed by a spirit since last year and thereafter,
he could not walk, not even stand. We asked the husband, ‘Do you want
to stand up again? Do you believe that Jesus can heal you?’ ‘Yes,’ he
instantly replied. When we commanded him to stand up in the name of
Jesus, he stood up!!! Just like in the Bible, he walked around his
neighborhood displaying the glory of God.
At the same time, the team and those who wished to follow Christ
experienced some persecution. While some of the leaders were interested
in Jesus, others were opposed to the gospel. A report was made to the
police. While the team had done no wrong, it still caused some of those
interested to pull back. They went back in December and baptized
6 believers.
David and his family are in the US on home assignment. But the
Crossroads leaders continue to visit Tumpieng Tum monthly to encourage
and teach the new church.
Please pray
- for the believers in Tumpieng Tum to grow strong in faith and boldly share with others,
- that the Lord would increase faith and hunger for the Gospel,
- for wisdom for the Crossroads team as they seek to disciple this new church and
- that God will deal with those bringing opposition to the Gospel.
