Cambodian Missionaries to the Kuy
Meet
Sambo and Chantrea. They are sent out by the denomination planted here
in Cambodia by the Christian and Missionary Alliance
missionaries. Having left their home area they now live in the
capital of Preah Vihear province and minister to the Kuy. They live in
a dorm set up for Kuy girls so that they can get a high school
education. Chentrea is the dorm mother. She is discipling these ten
girls. She has already learned a good bit of one of the Kuy dialects in
the process.
Sambo is leading a church plant in a
Kuy village of Prame just outside of town. The church started when
relatives from the village, who had come to Christ in Australia, asked
for an evangelist to be sent to their family to share Christ. They
recently had a baptism together with some other churches including 13
from the Prame fellowship. Sambo has been enlisting his own family
members and local development groups to help the villagers improve
their livelihood by using better compost and growing mushrooms. He has
been encouraging the church members to write their own worship songs in
Kuy language.
- Praise God for this missionary couple and their love for the Kuy people.
- Pray for wisdom for them in their ministries and as they parent their daughter.
- Pray
that all ten of the girls in the dorm would come to faith in Jesus and
that this will lead to churches in their home villages.
- They
have recently learned that current funding for the dorm will stop at
the end of the the year. Pray for a new sponsor for this ministry.
- Pray
that the church in Prame will grow spiritually and will begin to reach
out to Kuy in other villages, particularly those who speak the same
dialect.
