Christmas Festival
Buddhism
is a religion of festivals. The year in Buddhist countries is divided
by the festivals. So, it is not surprising that Christian believers in
this Buddhist country like to have Christian festivals. The most
prominent of these is Christmas. This is the time of year when the
Cambodian churches focus on celebration and outreach. Every church
chooses a day and throws a party including a service often with music,
dancing, and drama performed and a gospel presentation. Then they have
food, often noodles with curry sauce. Family and friends are invited to
participate and many do! These celebrations happen in different
churches all month long. Often, churches in the same area plan their
events for different days so that they can visit other churches too.
Churches in Kuy villages will be doing the same thing. We will attend a
celebration of Christmas in the village of O'Krouch. It will be good
for our family to reconnect with old friends there.
Please
pray for the celebrations in these Kuy villages, that Christ will be
honored. Pray that many friends and family members would visit and that
they would clearly understand the incredible wonder of Christmas, God
with us!
