Outreach to Jeho'kna
Right now a team of thirteen from
the Crossroads Church in Phnom Penh are in the village of Jeho'kna
until the 18th of August. They are there braving the rain and mud of
the rainy season to share their love for Jesus with this village. This
time of year this remote village is even more difficult to reach.
Because the motorbikes were so difficult to get in last time, they
decided to walk the last 10 kilometers (about 6.5 miles) from the main
road. They have to ford at least one river to get there. Though hard to
reach, Crossroads is committed to getting to this village. They have
been there several times in the last couple of years.
There are four "men of peace" (
Luke 10) who are very open to the gospel in the village. The team are
telling Bible stories that they hope will stimulate spiritual
discussion. They are also focusing on a program for children this week
and also looking for opportunities to visit with the parents at home.
However, it is the time for a big
spirit festival among the Kuy and Khmer. The people seek to appease the
spirits in order to have a productive and safe year. This means they
are a bit distracted and less available to visit with the team.
Please pray for this team of 13:
- good health and safety, in spite of the weather
- wisdom to know which Bible stories to share that will open doors for discussion
- that they will be blessed and grow in faith as they are obedient to go to others with the gospel
Pray that God will do some amazing
things among the people of Jeho'kna, showing Himself more powerful than
the local spirits. Pray that He would break the fear of the spirits
that grips these people and draw them to Himself. Also ask for the four
"men of peace" to commit their lives to Jesus and become the foundation
of the church in Jeho'kna.
