Kuy in Thailand
This month Tom will be taking a
survey trip to the southern part of Northeastern Thailand to begin
gathering information about the Kuy people in Thailand. There are close
to 400,000 Kuy people in 949 villages, around ten times as many
as there are in Cambodia. However, there are only a few small churches
among them. Sambo, a local denominational missionary to the Kuy here in
Cambodia, will go with Tom. They will visit some Kuy churches of the
same denomination as Sambo's church. Perhaps there can be some
collaboration across the border. They will also meet up with another
missionary who has worked with Kuy in Thailand in the past.
Praise for last month's Kuy gathering.
Thanks for your prayers for the Kuy
gathering which took place last month. It went really well. There were
31 participants. Many had never met a Kuy Christian from outside their
own village before! They worshiped together in Kuy language, prayed for
the many villages without a witness for Christ, worked together to
translate several Kuy worship songs from one dialect to the other and
learned about how they can make common cultural celebrations both
Christian and Kuy.
Pray for Tom's trip to Thailand April 25-29.
