Simone moved to the Kuy village of Andas as
a new believer. She began sharing Christ with
her neighbors. Saraen and his family came to
faith. Soon Kee, a lay pastor from the church
in Phum Srae, was going up to Andas on Sunday
afternoons to lead a service with these two
families. A house church was born. After some
time, Kee left the Phum Srae church to lead
the church in Andas on Sun mornings. We are
happy to see such "unintentional," spontaneous
planting of house churches.
If every Kuy person in Cambodia is to hear
the Gospel in a way that they can
understand, it is vital that hundreds of
house churches like this are started. People
must understand that churches do not need
special buildings and church leaders do not
need to be paid or have been trained in a
Bible college. Meeting in a home setting
provides great opportunities for reaching
those who would never normally enter a
church building. It also allows the church
to spread more rapidly as no building or any
other special "things" are necessary to get
a group started. And in a context where
decision-making is collective it makes sense
to do things in the family unit.
-
Pray for Kee to develop as a spiritual
leader. Also pray for God's comfort for he
and his family at this time as his son
recently drowned.
-
Pray for God to increase the church in
Andas.
-
Pray for house churches like the one in
Andas to spontaneously grow in Kuy
villages all over Kampong Thom and Preah
Vihear provinces.
